Is a cover letter necessary when applying for a part time job?

I’m going to college in September so I’ve been looking for just a part time job to make some extra cash.
I’m just applying for jobs in stores really – you know Starbucks, clothes stores, things like that.
Is it necessary to write a cover letter for jobs like this? I’ve got a Starbucks application form and I’m debating on whether or not to write a cover letter with it.

Yes! Its always best to put your best forward. There may be something in your cover letter which sets you apart from anyone else!
You’d nver know what will impress your potential employer if you don’t try! Now go out there and get that job! or any job best suited for you! Ya gotta try! C’mon-you’re worth every letter of presenting yourself!
I would go ahead and create one just in case.
