These days a lot of job applications take place through the various sources on the Internet (Hotjobs, Careerbuilder etc.) Do you feel that a cover letter should be included although it is electronic?
Thanks

As a hiring manager, I can tell you that it depends on the position that you are applying for. If it’s an entry level position, then it’s not needed. The higher level jobs would require more. Also, when I place an ad on the internet I’ll list what is required. Third, if you are unsure, just call the company (the numbers are usually listed) and ask if they require a cover letter.
Hope that helps! Good luck! :)
Well, It does depend on the position you are applying for, but I don’t think it is level dependent entirely. We won’t even look at application without a cover letter at my firm for entry-level positions. If you are wondering, ask a recruiter at a company (or several) you are interested in to get a feel for the industry.
Also – if you are interested in a specific company – apply through their recruiting process – I know that my firm doesn’t even look anywhere else…
Can’t hurt to have one.. Even if it’s just 1-2 paragraphs long.
