Is it ok to lie on your resume about job titles or job experience?

I have a no job experience as an engineer but I work currently as a technician in an engineering firm and I have been out of school for 3 years working on a masters in engineering. Someone suggested lying on my resume about my job title because I have been out of school for a long time and it looks fishy that I don’t have an engineering experience. I said no but I am wondering if I am not right because I have had few calls for engineering jobs interview.
Am I wrong or is this what everyone does for their first jobs?

OK i will tell you the true just because my husband is a supervisor in a big company and he have to find the new employee so he have to call some people who made an application, and let me tell you that it’s very easy for him to find someone who lie to him. And every time he call in the company where the guy come for an interview. So the best don’t lie and have a good presentation with a small and be comfortable with the guy who interview you but don’t lie because if he take you for the job and they find that you lie in the interview you gonna lose your job.
If you havent cheated, you havent tried hard enough.
Dont worry about ethics, most tech companies that you will be applying for have themselves cheated the country by shipping jobs overseas (compromising on security and quality). Btw, I would call it ‘Beefing up’ not lying :)
It might help you in the short-term, but it will hurt you big time if someone finds out about you lied when you are a big shot in some company. Its better to keep it simple and straight. Then you won’t have any worries now or later.
YOUR resume DOES NOT have to contain ANY Job title.
YOU can group your EXPERIENCE together.
EXPLAIN your MASTERS work. That takes a lot of time to complete and employers know this.
No, Its not OK but I do it. I lie in interviews too. My brother is a complete scumbag sociopath with a criminal past but he keeps pulling these great jobs like out of his a** because he is a con artist and a good liar. I consider myself a good person and I used to be honest but most places I have worked for lately have lied to me so I’ve been doing it. Besides that being honest and nice gets you nowhere anymore. I needed something to help me out. Like that guy said its called “beefing up your resume”. Just don’t say anything too ridiculous.
