When applying for a job do you need a cover letter along with the resume?

Well, I’m applying for my first job soon ! :) And I was wondering if it would be necessary to make a cover letter as well with my resume ? ( i’m applying for a job at the movie theater) and its my first job, im 14 and yes they do hire 14 year olds :P

You usually need a cover letter for more professional jobs but in your case I would say it’s probably a good idea since you have no job experience so I don’t really see your resume being all that interesting. Plus it would set you apart from your competition. Search the web and you should find some good templates you can use for your resume and cover letter. Good Luck!!
Yes whatever job you are applying for you should send a letter explaining what is enclosed and why you are sending it In this you should give them information as to how to contact you, such as your full name, address and phone number. If the employer is going to reply, which could mean them inviting you to attend an interview they will want to reply to your letter. You do not “need” one, but having a cover letter along with your resume will give you the advantage over your competitors because most of them won’t have one. Also the cover letter will allow you to say things in your cover letter that you wouldn’t normally put in your resume. I hope this helps.
Yes, I would give them a cover letter since you don’t have any work experience. Besides the normal contact information, I would put in the letter why you want to work at the theater and the advantages to them of hiring you.
