Make sure you’re cover letter is well written and to the point. Your cover letter serves more of a purpose than you think, because most of your competition won’t even include it. This sends a clear message of laziness and lack of attention to detail. This will most likely prevent your resume from even being read. Instead, make a great impression and get straight to the point inside your cover letter. Also, make sure you don’t put the cover letter and resume in an attachment, with all of the resumes exchanging hands these days, it most likely won’t even get opened as an attachment.

Your resume needs to be professionally presented and well written. Make sure it’s a very current, concise representation of your experience. Also try to make your personality and flair shine through to differentiate yourself from all the other boring written resumes.

Enclose a photo of yourself with your cover letter and resume. This is closely tied with #2 above, and elevates the personal touch quality of your resume package. Cruise lines are notoriously busy with hundreds of resumes to sift through, so this little nugget will put you miles ahead.

Do you have any relevant certificates that are related to the position you’re going for? If so, make sure you include these, and if you don’t have copies, obtain new copies from the source you received them from.

Include copies of as many references as possible. Make sure the references detail your work ethic, personable nature, uniqueness, and as many other unique and positive qualities you have demonstrated in other positions.
