Can you draw unemployment if your job shuts down for a week?

My husband works in a factory, and they have to shut the plant down for a week for some type of maitenance. They won’t pay him for his time off. Can he draw unemployment for just one week in the state of indiana, even though he would still technically be employeed?

Don’t know anything about the state of Indiana, but I currently intern in a manufacturing plant in Alabama. Things have been getting a little slow lately, so every other week one of the lines has to shut down. The workers do draw unemployment, but it’s usually about $250/week–not much to do anything w/, but it’s better than nothing.

Yes, you can. This is called a lack of work and the state will automatically give you benefits. They will contact your employer who will advise them that they were shut down for a week. If you were paid for this week, you will most likely not be eligible. Otherwise you will get your UE check.
