I’ve applied to maybe a dozen jobs online. They seem within my reach; I’m not applying to jobs that I’m not qualified for. I have a B.A., a stellar transcript, and good references from my previous employer. This is the first time that I’m trying for a job even remotely related to my field, and I’ve never even received a call back about my resume. I think if I could just get an interview, I could effectively sell myself… but I don’t even make it to that step! I’m going…
My wife and I recently moved to Texas to be near family and get better jobs. We saved all of our moving receipts (gas mainly). What exactly can we write off? Hotel costs, food, and gas?
Also my wife’s new job as a nanny takes her 25 miles away. Can we write off her mileage or gas expenses on taxes if we keep a log and/or receipts?

Now that I’m looking I realize that there are practically no positions for my level of qualifications (marketing/sales management) and I am either over-qualified for most (coordinators) or under-qualified (directors, etc). So needless to say, I’m stressing…
How are you handling this all?

I am currently looking for a job, and it is really hard to find good jobs. I have tried SimplyHired, USAJobs, SnagaJob, Monster, Indeed, and a slew of others. So far, Indeed is the best. I live in Alamogordo, New Mexico.

It seems like the people doing the hiring expect too much from someone inquiring about a job. If you are already employed, you take time off to go in and submit an application. Then if you are called in for interview, you take more time off. Then you play the waiting game and wonder what went right or wrong. Then they have the thing of 2nd interviews? Then they finally hire you and act like it is a big gift and they are paying 10 bucks an hour. Come on.…
How do jobsearch sites like hotjobs and monster make money other than advertising? Do they charge per job post? How do they do it and how much do they charge?
