I work and live in California at a large well known insurance group, and word has it I may get laid off. I will be able to collect unemployment but was thinking of moving to Las Vegas where its cheaper to live. However, I am doing a small coaching job that pays less than half the hourly wage I was making at my full time job. Can I still collect unemployment? A person loses his/her full time job and main source of income but has a small side business that generates part time income here and there. Can this person collect unemployment ?

I was hired to work part-time, flexibile hours (17.5 hours/week). At the end of each week I advise my boss of my work schedule for the following week. I have been doing this for over 3 years. My boss is now trying to set me on regular work schedule requiring me to work certain days/hours each week, so therefore, my hours are no longer flexible. If I quit my job, would I have grounds to collect unemployment?

I was laid off from my full time job and have filed for unemployment. If I get a part time job elsewhere (because that’s all that is available), can I collect unemployment until I am able to find full time work? I am in California. Please don’t refer me to EDD, as I have already checked there.

I just found out that I am pregnant and my current job requires me to lift heavy objects. Can I collect unemployment if I leave this job because I can not lift heavy objects anymore?

My employer is cutting my position. He has offered me another job with the company but with a significant pay cut which I cannot afford to live on. Is this an exception to collecting unemployment if I refuse the lower paying job? I may have to move home with family and go back to school to improve job opportunities.
